Technical Document Proofreading - A Case Study
Andrew’s manufacturing company had several qualified staff members to check the technical information and data in his technical manual, but he was concerned that the document might be largely incomprehensible to the audience for whom it had been prepared. Though not a writer himself, Andrew recognised that what his manual required was a thorough edit and some rewriting to transpose the text into straightforward, clear English such that a non-technical reader would find it understandable.
WordsRU’s editor perused the manual and asked Andrew for specific supporting background documents, which were then reviewed prior to commencing the edit. The editor then ‘translated’ the extremely technical parts of the manual into language understandable to a lay readership and integrated the new sections into the manual, liaising with Andrew’s technical manager where required, and integrated those sections into the manual.
